Interning at Cardtree (now Double.ai)

Product Design Internship

ℹ️ Since this project, Cardtree has rebranded to Double.ai and pivoted from a card-building platform to an AI Twin product. The work presented here was done during the early exploration phase of that transition.

During my internship at Cardtree, as one of the founding designers, I contributed across the core product and the newly launched AI Twin. I designed and shipped multiple new widgets and user-facing experiences, while refining legacy components to create a cohesive system. My work also included working closely with developers to ensure design quality in implementation.

Try Double.ai

Context

Cardtree helps users, especially people who are tech-naive create a professional one-page website using their existing LinkedIn profile.

The challenge was to Scale Cardtree from a simple profile builder to a fully customizable profile + AI-powered personal twin, while keeping the UX simple for non-tech users.

Experience foundations: Improving clarity, consistency, and trust

Footer section featuring social links, contact and copyright, built to help users close their page with trust

Unified Image + GIF + Carousel Widget

A single smart widget for Images, GIFs and Carousels, declutters the editor and gives users full media flexibility

Billing Page

A simplified billing layout that makes pricing, features and next steps easy to understand with zero clutter

Most Cardtree users judge their progress by how their page looks rather than what features they activated.

Clear, visually appealing widgets increased:

  • Time spent configuring profiles

  • Publishing rate

  • Trust & legitimacy of pages

Analytics Dashboard: Help users understand visibility and impact of their profile

Clean and non-technical data visualization with focus on views → actions → conversions. Made sure to make it accessible for first-time analytics users as well.

Double AI Twin

The most critical part of my internship was shaping Double, an AI agent trained on user data to talk to visitors on behalf of the user.

The work shown below is the early-stage exploration of the AI Twin experience during the key product transition. While some elements have evolved, the concepts have contributed to shaping the current direction. Cardtree has since fully pivoted to this product and got rebranded to Double.ai

Measurable Outcomes (Qualitative)

  • Users published their pages faster

  • Fewer support questions about widgets and billing

  • Increased trust in visitor-side chat (Double)

  • Product visually aligned with a premium SaaS direction

Key Learnings

I learned that designing for non-tech users requires empathy + minimal decisions. How visual polish can have business impact. Working closely with developers makes designs realistic. AI product UX must feel predictable, safe, and accountable

Final Note

This internship helped me develop both product thinking and execution speed.
Most importantly, I got to see my work go live, used by real people and powering real businesses.
